Police in France are investigating an incident where three people were shot dead while one was injured in Southern France on Sunday evening.
An unidentified number of gunmen opened fire near a gas station in the Ollioules commune of the Var department, killing two people who were targeted.
Robert Beneventi, the commune’s mayor, confirmed the incident and that a tourist couple were also caught in the incident and hit by stray bullets.
The woman tourist died while her husband was seriously wounded and sent to a local hospital.
Investigations are now underway amid suspicion the shooting could have been “a possible settling of accounts or the desire to win back a drug trafficking network.”
